Now
Things I'm up to now.
14 April 2026
I've installed Sveltia on this site, so it's easier to update on the go. It would be even easier if my phone's autocorrect was working.
I am playing unhealthy amounts of World of Warcraft. I have 5 max-level characters since the relapse release of the Midnight expansion on March 2. My favourite character switches from week to week; this week I'm enjoying Marksman Hunter. In an elevated form of degeneracy, I leveled two characters at the same time last night.
The TKTK (née XOXO) crew reminded me that really enjoyed Adrian Tchaikovsky's Elder Race. I'm burning through Children of Time now, and may alternate other books in the series with Discworld books. (Discworld is long on my reading list and my hold of The Colour of Magic arrived yesterday.)
I binged both seasons of the UK edition of Last One Laughing. What a fun ride and great couple of casts.
I really liked Project Hail Mary (2026). Ryan Reynolds continues to be a favourite. Too bad Andy Weir is milkshake ducking himself.

- I'm off work for a couple weeks for the holidays. For yet another year since moving to Ireland, I've had too much vacation time banked at the end of the year. Maybe I will be better about this in 2026.
- I broke a bone (radial head fracture) by falling off my bicycle. It's been three weeks and the bone is now healed, but the physical therapy will take a bit longer.
Reading
- Finished Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams. Interesting behind-the-scenes look at the horrible people behind Facebook (Meta).
- Currently reading Dune, albeit slowly.
Playing
- I had to take a break from video games while my arm was healing.
- I played a few hours of Above Snakes by Square Glade Games. I like the "build the map as you go" mechanic but the dialog felt stilted and some of the illustrations have a GenAI feel.
- I created characters in both Old School RuneScape and Guild Wars Reforged. I sorta want an MMO to sink into but I don't know if it's one of these.
Watching
- I'm kind of obsessed with Travelers, a Netflix TV show that ran for three seasons from 2016 through 2018. Really solid characters, tons of chemistry on screen, and no wasted episodes by my estimation. Really good stuff.
- I finished both seasons of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency on Netflix. The first season was really fun, Samuel Barnett is so good as Dirk Gently. Season 2 was alright but didn't hit the same. It's too bad they didn't get a shot at another season.
- Wake Up Dead Man and The Holdovers get a thumbs-up.
