Props to Gabe and Tycho at Penny-Arcade on their (somewhat) recent redesign. Points deducted for continually linking to http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/ on each news posts, outdating embedded comic links every 2-3 days.
I e-mailed Tycho about this, but I’m sure the volume of e-mail he gets is mountainous and my message took one for the team. My extreme anal-retentiveness does not allow me to let this go, though, so I’m blogging it in an attempt to purge the thought from my system.
Um… the url changes when the news post is no longer front page. The only issue is when the comic gets updated before the news post.
okay, I lied. I just checked it and you are correct. I could have sworn it worked like I described.

It wouldn’t be so bad if the permalink was at least activated at the same time the comic goes up. The feed always links to the comic’s eventual resting place, but going to that URL before another comic is posted leads a reader to a page that claims to be redirecting the browser (but doesn’t) and who’s only link points back to the front page rather then the most recent comic.
This has been a cause of frustration for me for quite some time.
