Cross-post: Warcraft item links in macros

Cross-posted here at at the Bwerp Wiki: linking items in the World of Warcraft macro system. This is not straightfoward, and there does not seem to be much information on the process on the web.

I admit that I haven’t played around with macros very much, but I read (or rather had read to me) the notes for the 1.10 beta and one particular note seems worrysome:

“Trying to spoof item links will disconnect you.”

Is what you’re doing what they mean, or are they referring to something else? Maybe they’ll only disconnect you if you make a link where the name and the linked item don’t match up.

  2. I think it’s the latter. From what I can tell, links created via CreateMacro() are indistinguishable from shift-clicked links as far as the application is concerned.

LOL that means no more [ParisHilton'sCumStainedFelheartPants] epic?
