Exploring Flickr

I’ve set up a test account on Flickr, an online photo gallery site. I’ve been using Gallery for some time now. Gallery is functional, but I’d like to offload the hosting responsibilities onto someone else and see some fresh software in the process.

I’m pretty impressed with Flickr’s photo management applications so far. There’s a lot of Flash involved, and I’ll have to resort to Windows to use the upload utility, but there’s good metadata going on here. I’ll probably upgrade to the Pro version once I hit my monthly upload cap.

I’m hoping this will motivate me to use my camera more often. I like the visual record, and I think I’m more likely to shoot if I can make sharing a bit easier.

Glad to see you’re up for a change of pace.  Flickr looks nice.  It’s what Eloise Oyzon uses, right?
    Question, though:
What does this mean for my pictures? Will you still be using gallery for the Mes and Karls of the world? Or is everything being transferred?

    Also, Something of interest:
When you google “Won Kee Plymouth” The first site up is “Adam’s Wiki”
    I remain unsurprised.

  3. Yup, Weez has a collection. And just like with the blog, just because I’m changing software doesn’t mean anyone else has to. I’ll keep gallery.bwerp.net up and maintained, no worries. (In fact, I may not even migrate over my old photos, but time will tell there.)

If you are still interested in migrating from Gallery to Flickr please check out my post on the subject:
